7 steps to pick your next dream destination
A lot of people ask me how I choose each place I visit. I’ll admit, I can sometimes get overwhelmed by my desire to go everywhere that choosing a spot can feel impossible. I have a few tricks that help me avoid analysis paralaysis.
Keep a running list of places you’d like to see. There is no limit on how many places can be on your list. Get inspiration from movies, friends, National Geographic, wherever!
Pick the time of year you plan to get away and for how many days you’d like to go.
Decide what kind of weather you want. (Bikini season or coat season?) Now research places on your list to make sure the weather they have at that time of year is what you want to experience.
Now you should have narrowed down your list based on weather and the amount of time you have off (you aren’t going to fly all the way around the world when you only have 5 days off from work!)
Use flight apps like Hopper to find out how much your flight will cost and how long it will take you to reach your destination. Plug in your list of destinations so you can see all of your flights.
Use Tripadvisor and hotels.com to fnd out how much your hotels will cost and if there is any availability.
Now you are armed with all the data you need to make a decision. You can choose your destination based on what fits into your time and budget.
Buy the airplane ticket. Don’t think too hard about this or you might chicken out! Just buy the damn ticket!
